We found this post on the blog of the Destination Hope rehab program. At first I thought this post was a little de-motivating; after all, who wants to hear that treatment and recovery can take months and years!
After some time and re-reading the post, I now think about it as offering some important information to family members and I feel that its underlying message is: “don’t give up!”
Recovery from addiction is a difficult and complex process, but that doesn’t mean your loved one can’t recover. Instead, patience, persistence, and experimentation are needed to help your loved one enter the recovery process.
